How to print coloring pages from iPhone or iPad

Get a HueFetti coloring page onto Letter or A4 paper. Choose PDF or PNG, check the page preview, and print with AirPrint or from a computer.

A coloring app can be the starting point for a paper activity. HueFetti exports coloring pages as PDF or PNG and supports Letter and A4 printing. Start with one test page so you can check its size and edges before printing several copies.

1. Pick the page you want on paper

Open a coloring sheet in HueFetti. If you want a fresh page for crayons, choose the uncolored sheet rather than a finished colored picture. You can use a library page available to you or a custom page from a photo or original idea.

Creating a new photo or AI sheet requires internet and an available custom-sheet allowance. For that step, see how to turn a photo into a coloring page. Printing does not create a new AI sheet.

2. Choose PDF or PNG

  • PDF: a convenient starting point when you want a printable document with a page boundary.
  • PNG: useful when you need an image to place in another document. Check the print preview because the receiving app may crop or resize it.

Use HueFetti’s export or print options for the page. If saving a file, choose a location you can find again, such as Files. Prefer the exported file to a screenshot, which can include the app’s controls or reduce the usable page area.

3. Match your paper and preview the edges

Two common paper sizes
PaperDimensionsWhat to check
US Letter8.5 × 11 inchesChoose Letter if that is the paper in your printer.
A4210 × 297 mmChoose A4 if that is the paper in your printer.

Match the document and printer paper size where those options are available. Check orientation and make sure the subject fits inside the printable area. If lines are cut off, choose a fit-to-page option in the printing app or printer software instead of filling the page by cropping. Printer margins and available controls vary.

4. Print with AirPrint

Apple’s AirPrint instructions say the printer must support AirPrint and the printer and iPhone or iPad should be on the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the page or exported file and find its share or print action.
  2. Choose Print, then select your AirPrint printer.
  3. Check the preview, number of copies and available paper options.
  4. Print one copy and inspect it before printing more.

If the printer does not appear, check the Wi-Fi connection and the manufacturer’s AirPrint support information. Printer discovery and controls are handled by Apple and your printer; HueFetti cannot add AirPrint support to a printer that lacks it.

If your printer does not support AirPrint

Save the PDF or PNG and transfer it to a computer you control, for example using AirDrop to your own Mac. Open it in a document or image app and print using the printer’s installed software. A printer manufacturer may also offer a supported iPhone or iPad app. You do not need to upload a private picture to a public conversion website.

Before you hand out the page

  • Check that no important outlines were cropped.
  • Make sure the subject is large enough for the coloring tools you plan to use.
  • Pick paper and supplies that suit each other; markers can show through thin paper.
  • Use photos and artwork you own or have permission to use, and obtain consent before sharing pages based on other people’s photos.

Still stuck? Contact HueFetti support with your device model, app version and the step that failed. Do not email private photos unless support requests them through a secure method.
